Tackling Climate Lies Symposium: How Native Advertising Plays a Part in Disinformation
IMAP affiliated faculty Michelle Amazeen and Chris Wells shared their research findings on misleading “native advertising,” at the May 16, 2023 research symposium hosted by the Institute for Global Sustainability. Fossil fuel companies pay for native advertising, which is hard to distinguish from regular news content, to sway public perception around their sustainability efforts and involvement in greenhouse gas emissions.
