BUild Lab Welcomes New Managing Director, Li M. Liang

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Limin (Li) Liang as Managing Director of the BUild Lab IDG Capital Student Innovation Center. In this role, Li will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the BUild Lab, with particular emphasis on the design, planning, and execution of all programming held at the BUild Lab. Together with the program team, Li will oversee our existing programs such as pitch competitions, workshops, awarding of start-up grants, mentoring and summer accelerators, while continuing to develop new programming to meet student needs.

Li comes to Boston University with an impressive and extensive background in consulting and startup leadership. She has worked as a management consultant at Bain & Company and as an innovation strategy consultant at Innosight, has held leadership positions in two education technology startup companies, and has extensive local and international nonprofit experience.

Li holds a BA in Political Science from Wellesley College and an MA in International Relations and Economics from The John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

Li will be replacing Ian Mashiter, allowing him to return to a more active teaching role at the Questrom School of Business. We are fortunate that Ian will also remain with the Innovate@BU team and has assumed a new role as Director of Curriculum.  In this role, he will assume administrative and strategic oversight of the university-wide minor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Ian will also continue to serve as a trusted coach and advisor to a large array of student startups and will continue to base his office from the BUild Lab.

Congratulations to both Li and Ian in their new roles!
