Recent Babson Alumnus Advocates for Destigmatizing Autism

Who is Jacob Nyamu?

Jacob Nyamu is the founder of Kipekee, an organization dedicated to supporting adults with autism.

Kipekee was selected into the Fast Track cohort at Babson College’s Arthur M. Blank Center, enabling its community to grow to over 180 members. The program has helped Jacob and his team run bi-weekly support group meetings for adults on the spectrum, offering essential resources and a safe space that is sorely needed in the community.

The Journey of Kipekee

The word “Kipekee,” which means “unique” in Swahili, encapsulates the spirit of the community Jacob is building. Kipekee offers resources such as therapists, employers, and scholarships, and provides mentorship for personal and professional growth. Their bi-weekly peer support group meetings for adults with autism create a space where members can connect, share, and support each other.

A Passion for Advocacy

Beyond his entrepreneurial success, Jacob is an advocate for raising awareness and destigmatizing autism. He is committed to addressing the shame and misconceptions that prevent families from seeking the care and treatment they need. Recent studies have highlighted that the prevalence of autism in black and brown communities has surpassed that in white communities, often due to decades of overlooking and misdiagnosing these groups. Jacob’s heart goes out to those with more severe cases of autism who struggle to navigate adulthood daily, and he is determined to make a difference.

Jacob holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from Hult International Business School [2021] and a Master of Science in Business Analytics from Babson College [2024].
