Urban Studies Student Spotlight: Noah Gordon
Noah is a sophomore in CAS majoring in Sociology and minoring in English and Urban Studies. Noah is currently a part of BU’s Theatre Group, Wandering Minds.
Why did you choose to minor in Urban Studies and how did you hear about the minor?
I was always interested in urban planning, urban policy and sociology. I spent a lot of time checking the Initiative on Cities website trying to find ways to get involved during undergrad. Serrie Hamilton, my academic adviser, spoke to me about the minor and the opportunities that the IOC offers.
What has your experience been like so far? What types of classes are you taking?
The urban studies minor works well with the classes I am currently taking. I am in two sociology classes: Sociology of Race and Ethnicity and Intersectional Sociology. In the future, I am hoping to take classes that focus on urban affairs and urban planning. In addition, I recently learned about the study abroad program in London that focuses on urban planning and British architecture. As a sophomore, I am definitely considering opportunities to travel abroad during my junior year.
