Education
BA, College of Arts & Sciences, Department of Sociology and Political Science (’27)

Sasa (they/them) is a first-year in the College of Arts & Sciences pursuing a BA in Sociology and Political Science. As a Posse Scholar from the Bay Area, they are excited to support and interact with communities throughout Boston.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Sasa draws inspiration from the city’s rich history of social movements spearheaded by QTBIPOC leaders who came before them. With Leadership, Education, Activism, and Dialogue (LEAD) Filipino, they coordinated the organization’s annual Queer Lakbay Summit, cultivating spaces for LGBTQ+ Filipino authors, artists and scholar-activists. At the age of 17, they organized a youth-led walkout at San Francisco City Hall on the Transgender Day of Visibility, joining queer and trans youth across the nation in their resistance against anti-trans legislation.

Outside the IOC, Sasa advocates for fellow first-generation scholars and students of color on campus. As an organizer on BU Student Government’s Intersection of Marginalized Peoples and Community Task Force (IMPACT), they develop and facilitate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion training for Resident Assistants on issues ranging from renaming the 610 Beacon St. residence to addressing food insecurity for marginalized student groups. Sasa also serves as a Global Affairs Consultant for Migration Tales, researching and analyzing immigration trends through monthly policy reports.

With roots in ethnic studies and computer science, Sasa combines their passions for social justice and data analysis to inform policy. In their free time, they love to explore local thrift stores, curate Spotify playlists, and embrace their culture through cuisine and dance!
