BU Administrators

As a department administrator, you play an important role in the process of inviting and hosting BU’s population of international students and scholars.  The ISSO is pleased to work with you to facilitate the invitation process, visa application, arrival, continued study, affiliation and employment of BU’s diverse population of international students and scholars.

We rely on you to provide us with up-to-date, accurate information—and we have the tools to help. See below for information on working with students who are enrolled in a degree or non-degree program at BU, and scholars whose primary activity at BU is to conduct research, teach, or work.

Newly Admitted Students

If you are working with recently admitted students, you’ll need to collaborate with the ISSO to ensure all the necessary paperwork is in place for us to issue any required immigration documents.

Current Students

International students are required to interact with and report information to the ISSO regularly throughout their degree program at BU. While this is ultimately the individual student’s responsibility, it’s important for you to understand what is required and where you may need to be involved.

New Scholars

If you’re inviting an international scholar to come to BU for work, research, or teaching, you will need to work closely with the ISSO so we can determine the most appropriate way to get your scholar here. This process can vary greatly as there are many factors to consider.

Current Scholars

International scholars, as well as their sponsoring departments, are required to interact with and report information to the ISSO regularly throughout their time at BU. We rely on you to keep us updated on any changes in a scholar’s BU appointment/affiliation and to respond to our inquiries related to your current scholars.
