As Senior ISSO Coordinator, Bernadette Higgs is responsible for preparing and processing immigration and university documents such as on-campus work permission, certificates of attendance, travel signatures, and immigration documents. She also evaluates initial client inquiries and advises international students, scholars, and employees on immigration and university policies and procedures.

Prior to joining Global Programs, Bernadette worked at the University of Vermont’s Office of International Education during her time there as a student. She went on to complete the AmeriCorps City Year program in New York City where she worked with middle school students in their French class. Most recently, she worked with the Pittsburgh-based nonprofit Alliance for Youth Support and Education as a communications intern.

Bernadette holds a Bachelor of Arts in French from the University of Vermont and a Master of Arts in Global Communication and Applied Translation from Carnegie Mellon University. During college, she studied abroad in Montpellier, France, and while abroad, Bernadette had the opportunity to explore France, Ireland, and Spain.
