As Associate Director of Student Services, Shannon manages and supervises the immigration processing, advising, and related outreach services provided by the International Student Advising team to more than 10,000 nonimmigrant BU international students. She serves as a member of the leadership team of the International Students & Scholars Office and contributes to the overall management of the office.

Prior to joining BU Global Programs, Shannon served the international student community as the Associate Director at Northeastern University, Assistant Director at UMass Boston, and as an International Student and Scholar Advisor at Endicott College.

Shannon holds a Bachelor of Arts in Japanese Language and Literature from UMass Amherst and a Master of Arts in Intercultural Relations from Lesley University. She also earned a graduate certificate in Leadership Studies from Northeastern University.

Shannon is a very active member of NAFSA, having previously served as Regulatory Ombudsperson for Region XI as well as frequently presenting or training at conferences. She studied abroad at Tsukuba University in Japan during college and has traveled to more than 30 countries. She enjoys experiencing new places and cultures, whether it be exploring Angkor Wat in Cambodia, scuba diving between the continental plates in Iceland, or taking in the natural hot springs in the Azores.
