Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies’ Open House
On Thursday, September 23rd, 2021, the Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies celebrated the start of the 2021-22 academic year by hosting its annual Open House. This event offered a unique opportunity for new and continuing students to meet faculty and staff members and ask any questions they had in real-time. Additionally, students were provided information about the courses, certificates, and the various funding opportunities and resources available to them through the Center.
The Open House included two well-attended faculty talks titled “Black(s) and Jew(s): The Conversation Continues” and “Climate Risk and Environmental Challenges in the Middle East,” each followed by a Q&A. In the first talk, Ingrid Anderson, the Center’s Associate Director, spoke to students about her course “American Conversations: Black(s) and Jew(s)” that she developed with Senior Lecturer, CAS Writing Program, Stephen Hodin. After that, students had the opportunity to hear from David Lehrer, the Center’s Postdoctoral Teaching Associate, on the Middle East’s climate risk and environmental challenges.
