Prerna Shankar

CAS’26 Neuroscience, Pre-med

Hi! I’m Prerna Shankar (she/her), a junior in CAS studying neuroscience while on the pre-med track. I live in a small town in Central Jersey (I’m your proof it exists) called Clinton.

On campus, I’m a CAS Dean’s Host, Kilachand Ambassador, and Kilachand Peer Mentor. I’m also an intern at both the Center for Autism Research Excellence and the Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience (UPN). Additionally, I’m an instructor for BU’s EMS program! You can find me singing in BU’s Premier South Asian Fusion Acapella group, Suno (which means ‘listen’ in Hindi), volunteering with clubs like Hearts for the Homeless, and teaching neuroscience through the Mind and Brain Society! I’m passionate about public health, equity, disability studies, medical neuroscience, and theorizing what phases 5 and 6 of the MCU are going to look like (that part’s not going too well so far though).

Some of the Kilachand classes I’ve enjoyed the most have been “(Mis)representing History in Art” with Professor Drees and “Reforming the U.S. Healthcare System” with Professor Cohen. My BU experience would be vastly different without Kilachand– being a part of the close-knit community has helped me make some of my greatest memories here. In addition, Kilachand’s interdisciplinary opportunities have been invaluable– I’ve learned so much, and the opportunity to take courses outside of my major has been really fruitful.

If you have any questions about my experience in KHC/BU, the pre-med track, the neuroscience major, or anything else, please don’t hesitate to reach out! I’d love to chat :)
