BU Law Welcomes Law & Economics Scholars
The School of Law was pleased to host the annual meeting of the American Law & Economics Association.
Boston University School of Law was pleased to welcome scholars of law and economics for the 28th Annual Meeting of the American Law & Economics Association (ALEA) in May. The event was organized by BU Law Professor and Nancy Barton Scholar Kathryn Zeiler and facilitated by Keith Hylton, a William Fairfield Warren Distinguished Professor at BU Law and president of ALEA for the 2017–18 term.
The ALEA was founded in 1991 by George Priest of Yale Law School, A. Mitchell Polinsky of Stanford Law School, and Steven Shavell of Harvard Law School. The association promotes research in the fields of law and economics as well as public policy and regulation. Members include legal scholars and practitioners as well as economists. Led by a team of officers, the board of directors is made up of notable scholars from across the country.
Scholars from across the country joined the organization’s annual meeting to present research on topics ranging from financial institutions regulation to international law and the past and future of the field of law and economics. Over lunch on the first day, Robert Ellickson (Yale Law School) presented Robert Cooter (UC Berkeley Law School) with the Ronald H. Coase Medal in recognition of his major contributions to the field of law and economics.
