Josephine Kovacs (’19) Joins Cosgrave Vergeer Kester LLP as Associate Attorney
Josephine Kovacs has joined Cosgrave Vergeer Kester LLP as an associate attorney. Her practice focuses on all aspects of civil litigation, including product liability, legal malpractice claims, and personal injury defense. Prior to joining the firm, Kovacs worked as a student attorney at the Harvard Prison Legal Assistance Project, representing prisoners in administrative hearings. She also worked as a 2018 summer associate for Cosgrave.
Kovacs earned her undergraduate degree in sociology and human rights from Barnard College, where she graduated cum laude. She then received her law degree from the Boston University School of Law, while also receiving her Masters of Laws in European Law from the University of Paris II Pantheon-Assas, graduating with honors. During her time at Boston University School of Law, she was a member of the International Law Journal where she wrote a note on international surrogacy and human rights and edited several articles. She was also recognized as a Distinguished Scholar, which is part of a competitive scholarship program.

Kovacs is a member of the Oregon State Bar, Oregon Women Lawyers, and volunteers with Blanchet House here in Portland. In her free time, she enjoys salsa dancing, yoga, and international travel. She is fluent in Hungarian.
