John F. Cohan

Biography

John Cohan is a corporate partner at Gesmer Updegrove LLP in Boston, where he focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity financings, bank financings, private placements of equity and debt securities, intellectual property licensing, software licensing and technology law.

John’s practice ranges from multi-million dollar acquisitions, venture capital and private equity financing transactions, to representing and advising early stage and high growth companies and technology entrepreneurs in connection with their contracting, licensing, business planning, intellectual property needs, and general corporate compliance.

Prior to joining Gesmer, John was in-house as General Counsel for a life sciences company where he was an active member of the executive management team. His experience as General Counsel provides him a unique perspective that enables him to seamlessly tether business and legal needs of clients to maximize value as a trusted advisor.
