JD Student Paper Deadlines

Submission Due Dates

For students in their final semester, the deadline for submitting papers is 5:00 p.m. on the last day of the examination period, unless the instructor has prescribed an earlier deadline. For all other students, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on the fourteenth (14th) calendar day after the end of the examination period, unless the instructor has prescribed an earlier or later deadline. Deadlines for students not in their last semester may be no later than the next February 1 for Fall semester papers and no later than the 21st day after the examination period for Spring semester papers.

Any student who determines that he or she will be unable, for any reason, to submit his or her paper by the deadline established by the instructor must report the facts promptly to the faculty member under whose supervision the paper is being written. This is a reporting requirement only. An “official” excuse from submission requirements may be granted only by the Academic Standards Committee, and only for the same reasons and according to the same procedures set forth in Section 2 of Article VIII of the current Academic Regulations.

Fall 2024 Paper Deadlines

Students writing papers to complete course, seminar or Independent Study project requirements for the Fall 2024 semester are reminded that, with the exception of students in their final semester, all such papers must be completed no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 3, 2025. However, instructors, at their discretion, may establish earlier submission dates or may set a submission date for fall semester papers as late as February 1, 2025.

For students in their final semester, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on the last day of the fall examination period – Friday, December 20, 2024.

Spring 2025 Paper Deadlines

Students writing papers to complete course, seminar or Independent Study project requirements for the Spring 2025 semester are reminded that, with the exception of students in their final semester, all such papers must be completed no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025. However, instructors, at their discretion, may establish earlier submission dates or may set a submission date for spring semester papers as late as May 30, 2025.

For students in their final semester, the deadline is 5:00 p.m. on the last day of the spring examination period – Friday, May 9, 2025.
