Outside Scholarships

Your connections based on geography, gender, ethnicity, or field of interest can assist in conducting a targeted scholarship search. The following is a list of the types of organizations that often offer such scholarships.

  • Local bar associations (e.g., Fall River Bar Association, the Justinian Society Scholarships for Italian-Americans, Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers)
  • Organizations devoted to a specific field of law (e.g., intellectual property, environmental law)
  • Law firms
  • Civic, corporate, or private organizations
  • Clubs or other organizations devoted to a particular ethnic heritage
  • Religious organizations
  • Community Foundations (e.g. Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts)

BU Scholarships

Several organizations connected to Boston University offer scholarships to BU graduate students based on various criteria. Some of the scholarships require that a student complete one year of their graduate program before applying.

Writing Competitions

Writing competitions are sponsored by a variety of organizations and have deadlines throughout the academic year.  Check out the AccessLex.org Databank for a searchable database.
