Services and Support for Transfer Students

At Boston University School of Law, we actively seek transfer students because they enrich our school and are successful here. We know it can be hard to switch schools, so if we accept you as a transfer student, we immediately provide tailored services and support to help facilitate a smooth transition and set you up for success.

A New Community

Upon admission as a transfer student, you’ll be provided with names and contact information for several upper-class students who have volunteered to answer your questions and help get you acclimated. Upon arrival at BU Law, your social life begins immediately with a kick-off barbecue with students, faculty and staff during orientation. You’ll enjoy outings with other transfer students, forming a community of your own. You will also learn about the many social programs sponsored by our Student Government Association, which selects a transfer student SGA delegate who represents your interests, and our diverse array of student organizations.

We hold an orientation meeting with all transfer students before the school year begins to provide you with detailed information and discuss courses, programs and deadlines, upper-class moot court competitions, and more. You’ll also have an opportunity to do a writing competition if you want to try to gain membership on a journal.

Faculty Mentorship

Once you arrive on campus, you’ll be assigned a dedicated faculty advisor, Professor Jack Beermann. Professor Beerman will advise you on all things academic and serve as an ongoing resource throughout your time at BU Law.

Career Development

The professional attorney-adviors in Career Development & Public Service will be available from day one to offer guidance and support as you prepare for life after BU Law.
