Michael Ulrich will speak at the University of Michigan’s Center for Bioethics and Social Sciences in Medicine Bioethics Grand Rounds “Toward a Firearms Justice Framework: Lessons from Reproductive Justice in the Effort to Mitigate the Health Impact of Gun Violence” at 12pm on Wednesday, March 13.
This presentation will look at the role sex and gender play in evaluating firearm restrictions and developing the boundaries of the nascent Second Amendment right. Theoretical constructs based on sex stereotypes and gender hierarchy help expand the Second Amendment while simultaneously obscuring the threat this poses to women, especially those who are pregnant.
