Lunch will be served at 12pm, and the program will begin at 12:45pm.
Marijuana has been legalized in roughly half the states, though it remains largely illegal in the other half and totally illegal at the federal level. Even in those states that have moved to decriminalization, marijuana is often available only under heavy and sometimes Byzantine regulations. In Weed Rules: Blazing the Way to a Just and Joyful Marijuana Policy, Boston University School of Law Professor Jay Wexler argues that it is time for states to abandon their “grudging tolerance” approach to legal weed and to embrace “careful exuberance,” leading to re-examination of instances of both over- and under-regulation in marijuana policy. Professor Wexler explores how focusing on joy and community can lead us to a more productive and equitable approach to marijuana production, marketing, distribution, and use.
