Biography
Mark H. Bluver joins Boston University School of Law’s faculty as a part-time Lecturer in the Compassionate Release Practicum. Mr. Bluver is currently a solo practitioner in the Law Office of Mark H. Bluver. He began his professional career as an associate at Cahill Gordon and Reindel, a national law firm based on Wall Street. While at Cahill, he had the pleasure of representing the Muppets against Walt Disney; the Wall Street Journal called it “Frog v. Mouse.” He left New York in 1992 and was the Supervising Attorney in the Attorney General’s Office in Springfield, Massachusetts. After more than two years in the public sector, he joined a private law firm in Springfield and was Senior Trial Counsel. In 2009, he left private practice and began representing poor people in criminal cases. His practice involved murder cases, sexual offenses, and serious felonies. When COVID-19 shut down the courts, Mr. Bluver began representing prisoners who were in significant danger because of the pandemic. Since 2020, he has been one of a handful of lawyers attempting to get prisoners who are either terminally ill or permanently incapacitated released on medical parole. Mark is also the Supervising Attorney in Franklin County for lawyers appointed in criminal matters. He graduated summa cum laude from Cardozo School of Law.
