LAW150
Celebrating 150 years of excellence in legal education at BU Law.
On October 2, 1872—150 years ago—the founders of BU Law had a forward-thinking vision to establish a rigorous institution that invited students—regardless of their race, gender, or religion—to learn the principles of law. It was an idea well ahead of its time.
Since then, many who have passed through our doors have realized their responsibility to speak up, speak out, and lay the educational foundation for future generations. They include educators, advocates, and jurists who demanded change, advanced the practice of law, and produced far-reaching precedents.
This series, created to commemorate the school’s 150th anniversary, celebrates BU Law’s past and present through the stories of the people, places, and events that shaped our community and the world.
