Penguins are super good swimmers, as you probably already know
Penguins look clumsy on land, but they are fast, graceful swimmers underwater. They have a torpedo-shaped body that helps them to move easily through the water. Most swimming birds use their feet to push themselves along, but penguins use their wings instead. Their feathers are also coated with a special oil to keep the water out. Their feather layer also reduces additional air, so the penguin won't float in the water while swimming or diving.
After swimming, they launch themselves out of the water at breakneck speed. Penguin feathers collect tiny bubbles when they're swimming, creating a layer of air around the animal which meams that they can swim fast enough to fly out of the sea and into the air when they need to get out.
Watch this clip of them launching themselves out of the water!
They sort of look like turtles when they slide in the water and slide across the ice when they come out.
