Who is the Scranton Strangler?

This is a heavily debated topic within The Office fandom. With many possible candidates, we'll delve into what might make the Scranton Strangler the Scranton Strangler.

• Creed Bratton- At first glance, Creed would seem to be a reasonable suspect. Creed has a reputation for being macabre. In fact,he "smells like death", as a perplexed Ryan puts it in the earlier seasons. It's also implied that Creed has also commited multiple homicides before. However, the main thing that proves he is not the Scranton Strangler is that he is present with the other cast during the car chase. So if Creed isn't the Scranton Strangler, who is?

  Jan Levinson-Gould?

• At the beginning of the series, Jan is a level-headed, no-nonsense,successful woman, as Vice President of Northeast Sales at Dunder Mifflin. In the early seasons, she holds an sizable amount of consdescencion and contempt for Michael, but later begins dating with him (for whatever reason). She becomes increasingly more erratic and frustrated with her life, her relationship obviously dysfunctional, lying to her boss in order to go on vacation with Michael. This leads to her eventual termination, and her explosive fight with Michael during "The Dinner Party". Her descent into insanity and her self destructive tendencies make her a prime suspect as the Scranton Strangler. However, the main thing that clears her name is the fact that she was nowhere in Scranton when the Scranton Strangler struck- she was in New York. So it isn't Jan, it isn't Creed...

  Is it Roy Anderson?

• Consider it. If Roy knew that Jim and Pam got married and were having a kid, he'd probably be super upset and strangle someone. It's worth noting that the Strangler struck on Cece's birthday. All of his frustration of not ending up with Pam could've boiled up and erupted into a manifestation of pure rage. However, like Jan, one thing clears his name- the fact that he basically got written off the show until season 9. It isn't Jan, it isn't Creed, it isn't Roy, so it has to be....

  Toby.

• Think about it- Toby has had a long, hard, crush on Pam since the beginning of time. In fact, Pam herself said that she always found Toby as "kind of cute". Toby has done multiple things throughout "The Office" to prove his love for her (e.g. winning a stuffed duck for her at the claw machine), and even moves away to Costa Rica after he embarrasses himself in front of Pam. it killed Toby so much to see Pam happy with Jim, and because he knew Pam and Jim were having a kid, his anger boiled up to the brim and he couldn't take it anymore- he strangled someone.

  So there you have it! We've come to the conclusion the Toby is the Scranton Strangler. It's also worth mentioning that strangling is not the solution to your problems. It's unclear whether or not the show confirms it is in actuality Toby, but in our opinion, the mystery makes it all the more interesting.
