How Do I Contribute?

If My CV has been rolled out to your academic unit, please use  My CV  to submit scholarly articles. For more information about OpenBU and My CV, see below for “How the BU Open Access Policy works with OpenBU”. For all other types of submissions, please feel free to use our OpenBU Self-Deposit form, or contact us at open-help@bu.edu, and we can help you get started.

How the BU Open Access Policy works with OpenBU

Under the BU Open Access Policy, faculty members grant Boston University a non-exclusive license to the accepted manuscripts of their scholarly articles to make them openly available in OpenBU, BU’s digital institutional repository.

The policy applies to scholarly articles (not books, book chapters, creative works, or popular articles) that were authored after the policy was adopted on February 11, 2015.

Read the full text of the policy.

Submit an Article to OpenBU in My CV

Faculty can submit articles through My CV, a software system that assists faculty in collecting and maintaining their scholarly and professional contributions and facilitates the Faculty Annual Review (FAR). In addition, My CV helps faculty make their works openly available by identifying publications that fall under the BU Open Access Policy and providing an easy way to submit articles directly to OpenBU from My CV.

BU Medical Campus faculty: Please submit your accepted manuscripts here. You are also welcome to email us the article, providing all the information requested on our submission web form.

Opting Out

To opt out of granting BU a non-exclusive license, you can request a waiver–either through My CV or, for BU Medical Campus faculty, our online submission form. The waiver is granted automatically.

How do I explore what is in OpenBU?

OpenBU has thousands of works created at Boston University. You can search the entire repository for articles, chapters, theses and dissertations, presentations, datasets, media, and more. You can also browse by collection (College, School, or Department).
