Mugar Roof Replacement Project Updates
Over the summer of 2023, construction will be underway to replace Mugar Memorial Library’s roof. During this time, there will be ongoing noise and vibrations throughout Mugar, with its upper floors particularly impacted by disruptive noise. Mugar will be open as normal and BU Libraries’ services will continue to be available during this time. However, some spaces and services will be temporarily closed or moved. As of May 24, the following temporary changes are in place:
- The 6th floor African Studies reading room is temporarily closed and the African Studies librarians have temporarily relocated services to Room 203 on the 2nd floor of Mugar Memorial Library. The Africana collections located in the 6th floor circulating stacks is still accessible.
- The Howard Gotlieb Archival Research Center is closed to in-person research. Please contact us with research inquiries and requests for materials.
- Reservable study spaces are temporarily unavailable. Learn more about the status of Mugar’s various study spaces.
BU Libraries welcomes patrons to explore one of its many branch libraries this summer. Each library offers expert research support, access to the best available resources, and a variety of study spaces.
Patrons may also request and pick-up books and other circulating materials through BU Libraries 2 Go.
This roof work has been scheduled during the summer to minimize disruptions to library patrons, but we recognize important research continues during this time. We apologize for this disruption and appreciate your flexibility and patience as we make much-needed repairs that will enable us to better serve the BU community going forward.
