Scanning & Digital Delivery

Overview

Boston University Libraries provide scanning and electronic document delivery of scanned materials from the Libraries for faculty and doctoral students by request. Faculty and doctoral students at BU who need scanned portions of books and other printed materials held by the BU Libraries for instruction or research should submit a request via the Scanning Requests Form, or through BU Libraries Search.

Scanning requests are limited by copyright and policy restrictions. See below for details, and please reach out to Ask a Librarian with any questions.

What can you request?

Scholarly print materials from Boston University Libraries’ collections.

For non-print materials or scholarly print materials in other locations, please contact Ask a Librarian (ask@bu.edu).

How will it be delivered?

  • Materials requested to be added to a course list will be made directly available online in your Course Materials reading list.
  • Individual research or supplementary course materials requests will be emailed to you as a link to the scanned materials.

Requests can be placed through BU Libraries Search. Sign in to BU Libraries Search with your BU Login. Then look for the Scanning & Digital Delivery link next to items available through this service.
