Profile

Elena Postigo specializes in European and Spanish History (Gender, Latin America, and Social History). She earned an MA in European Communities from the Diplomatic School (Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs) and a PhD in Spanish History, from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). She taught at the UAM for 25  years at the graduate and post-graduate levels, and at different European Universities: Paris, Rouen, Bordeaux, Naples, Pisa, European Institute (Florence), Évora, Porto, Zaragoza, Cantabria. She has also taught in Argentina. She served as Associate Dean for European Studies at the UAM for two years and has been member of the European Panel for European Studies (ERASMUS and ECTS) in Brussels. Dr. Postigo has written two books about Spanish history and has collaborated on ten more (Spanish and European). She has published several articles in Spanish and European magazines, and has participated in international and national Congresses. She has served as a Full Professor of History at the UAM, Coordinator of the International Doctorate of History of Women and Gender in Europe (Universities of Paris, Rouen, Naples, Edinburg, Vienna and Autónoma of Madrid), and Director of Postgraduate Studies -Master and Doctorate- in Modern History.
