Francisco RamalloProfile

Francisco Ramallo holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Granada (UGR) and a PhD in Literary Studies from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM). He has completed master’s programs in “Languages and Poetics of Contemporary Art” and “Literary Studies,” among others. Francisco has completed various research stays at the City University of New York, leading to the publication of El espacio como categoría surrealista en la producción artística contemporánea. He is also the author of publications such as Espacio hostil y género en 1931: una novela de Miquel Llor y una fotografía de Claude Cahun and Transitar el archivo de Lorca hacia Pavimento infinito. In addition to teaching, Francisco also takes on the role of an independent curator, focusing on the intersection of art history and literary studies. Over the past years, he has curated exhibitions such as Rosana Antolí: Crossroads (Choreographies) at the Stone Gallery in Boston (2018), AAMA (Archivo aberto da memoria arquitectónica) at the Cidade da Cultura of Santiago, En cualquier lugar fuera at Galería F2 (Madrid), and Cuerpo cierto by Rosario Trillo at Formato Cómodo. He served as assistant curator for Fundación Lorca’s exhibition Jardín deshecho by Christopher Maurer and has curated and edited publications for the exhibitions Pavimento infinito. Mapa. Sala. Arpa. Alba. and La vista y el tacto.

Over the past two years, with the support of the Margarita Salas grants from the Spanish Ministry of Education, he has conducted a research project exploring the relationship between the works and archives of the Silver Age and contemporary exhibition spaces.
