Accepted Students Checklist
Checklist
Studying abroad, whether for a year, a semester, or a summer, requires careful planning. It’s important to allow adequate time to plan and prepare yourself for your time abroad. As each program may require a slightly different approach, we’ve created a checklist specifically for you!
The checklist below is designed to guide you through the essential steps and preparations you’ll need to make before departing for Madrid.
Following the Student Pre-Departure Checklist and completing the tasks in a timely manner will contribute to a smoother transition and successful experience.
Remember, you’ll be working with Grace Twardy (gtwardy@bu.edu) from BUSA (the Study Abroad office at BU) and the BU Madrid team (the Study Abroad office in Madrid).
Internship Placement Process
The internship placement process is coordinated by our partner organization in Madrid, EUSA Academic Internship Programs.
All internship students will participate in a group pre-placement preparation session and an individual pre-placement meeting with a Madrid team to facilitate the placement process.
- Students wishing to complete an internship in Spanish must have completed five semesters of Spanish (or equivalent)
- Students who opt to complete an internship in English must have a minimum of two semesters of Spanish (or equivalent)
Internship students will receive an email from EUSA with instructions for completing EUSA’s online registration process, where you will submit your résumé, a photo, some preliminary information on your placement interests and goals, and a short essay. This email will also contain a link to schedule your pre-placement interview (either in person if you’re in the greater Boston area, or by telephone or Zoom if you are not), along with some advice on how to prepare for this meeting.
Make sure to complete the EUSA registration process and schedule your pre-placement interview as quickly as possible to allow EUSA to get started on finding you a great internship right away!
