Residential Mail

Mail Services does not oversee the delivery of residential mail for students living on campus. Mail addressed to students living in University residences on campus is delivered by the United States Postal Service to the residences. Mail Centers within the student residences are supervised by staff of Residential Safety under the BU Housing Office.

If you have a mailing addressed to students on campus, University Mail Services is able to deliver large mailings to residential students through the interdepartmental mail delivery system. Contact Mail Services at 617-353-2156. Using this service rather than USPS First Class mail will result in considerable savings to your department. Note: apartment-style residences receive mail via street delivery from the USPS and cannot be serviced by interdepartmental mail.

Contact Campus Mail to identify which residences can be serviced by interdepartmental mail. Addresses should include the student’s name, delivery address, and box number. The box number is not the same as the room number, and it’s not a USPS mail box number. Questions regarding the proper addressing of student mail may be directed to the Housing office, at 617-353-3511. Bundle all correspondence to the same delivery address with rubber bands.
