Troubleshooting – New Case Window is Too Large
MET CJ710 Virtual Lab Topics
This issue happens when the monitor’s resolution is smaller than the EnCase New Case screen, and so the “OK” button is blocked by the taskbar as shown in the following screenshot:
- Option 1 – Move the Taskbar
-
Before continuing with the troubleshooting steps below, make sure your window is maximized and takes up the whole screen.
- Right click the taskbar, then click “Properties”.
- Under the “Taskbar” tab, select Right from the “Taskbar location on screen:” drop-down options, then click OK.
The “OK” button should now be accessible. To return the taskbar, select Bottom from the “Taskbar location on screen:” drop-down options at step 2.
- Option 2 – Change EnCase Font Size
-
- From the main EnCase window click on Tools > Options.
- From the “Options” menu, select the Fonts tab, then double click the “Dialog Boxes” option.
- In the “Size” section, choose a smaller size and click OK.
- Close and then re-open the EnCase program.
In this example, the sized was reduced from 11 to 9.
When you re-open EnCase, the font should be smaller and the “New Case” window should now show the “OK” button.
