Handwriting Capture with Wacom Intuos Tablet & Pen

Similar to a mouse or keyboard, the Wacom Intuos tablet & pen are computer peripherals that connect to your computer. When paired with a compatible application, such as Microsoft PPT or the Zoom Whiteboard feature, the Wacom & Pen can simulate the traditional white board & dry erase marker but with the added advantage of saving your work for digital distribution. Annotating PPT slides or electronic documents or even replacing your mouse as a way to navigate through your computer are other common uses for the Wacom technology.

Use Cases:

Understanding these distinctions will help you better use the Wacom.

  • Use case 1: Application Coupled: Using PPT or One Note you are writing/drawing within the application much like you would on a traditional dry erase board. As you toggle between programs the handwriting remains only in the program used for writing.
  • Use case 2: Screen Coupled: Using Zoom’s Annotation or Whiteboard you are writing OVER the displayed content. Similar to using a Transparency Projector. When you toggle between programs the writing will still appear on the screen.

The Wacom Intuos connects via USB or Bluetooth. After downloading and installing the necessary driver you can use the pen and tablet to control your computer much like a computer mouse.

Use a “whiteboard software to write, draw, or annotate prepared PPT slides.
