GeMsGetMath@BU, where GeMs = Gender Minorities in Mathematics, is a five-day, non-residential summer program for approximately 25 high schoolers of any gender who live in the greater Boston area. GGM@BU seeks to increase the gender diversity within mathematics and related STEM fields by building young students’ confidence. This will be achieved by introducing them to a variety of topics, involving computation and experimentation, in a supporting and encouraging community consisting of peers, research mathematicians, and graduate students. We are particularly interested in applicants who are enthusiastic about mathematics and looking for more opportunities to explore it; students do not need to be already excelling at math. We encourage students from underserved school districts or those who identify with groups that have been historically excluded from mathematics communities to apply.
