TRB Dinners with Medical Professionals
The TRB “Dinner with an MD” program is designed to provide students with introductions and exposure to clinicians and clinical challenges beyond those provided in a classroom. One to two times per year, students invite a medical doctor whose work is of interest to the group out to dinner. They spend the evening learning about clinical issues firsthand in a personal, informal setting. These dinner meetings offer unique professional opportunities for our trainees as well as opportunities to interact with each other.
In 2023, TRB students hosted a “Lunch with an MD” event with Dr. Evan Snyder of UCSD and Sanford Burnham Prebys. The 2016 “Dinner with an MD” featured Dr. Bohdan Pomahac, Director of the Plastic Surgery Transplantation Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In 2019, TRB students dined with Dr. Stephan Anderson, Section Chief of Abdominal Imaging in the Department of Radiology at the Boston University Medical Center. Other past guest clinicians include Drs. Ken Rodriguez, Orthopaedic Trauma Surgeon at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center; John Schwartz, Nephrologist at Boston University Medical Center; Kei Suzuki, Thoracic Surgeon at Boston University Medical Center (shown above); and Aaron V. Kaplan, Interventional Cardiologist and Founder and Director of the Dartmouth Device Symposia (3D).
