Seeking Additional Members for Community Liaison Committee
(Boston) – The National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratory (NEIDL) at Boston University is seeking additional members from Dorchester, Roxbury, South Boston and the South End to fill positions on its expanded Community Liaison Committee (CLC).
The CLC facilitates communication between the NEIDL and the community by sharing information with the community on the activities at the NEIDL and providing feedback to NEIDL staff from the community. This process helps to ensure transparency in the operations and activities of the NEIDL.
The NEIDL contains state-of-the-art laboratories where researchers will develop vaccines and treatments for infectious diseases that are or have the potential to become major public health concerns.
“This is an appropriate time to add additional members to the CLC as lower level research recently started in the NEIDL. Engaging with the community and sharing information is an important part of our work,” said Valeda Britton, Executive Director of Community Relations.
CLC members are chosen through an open, self- nominating process and those interested in serving should have a strong connection with the community. Interested individuals may apply at www.bu.edu/NEIDL or by contacting Valeda Britton, Executive Director, Community Relations/Boston University Medical Campus, VJBritto@bu.edu, 761 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118; phone: 617-353-9095; email: Neidlclc@gmail.com .
All applications must be received by July 27, 2012 to be considered.
