Research Interests

Dr. Schon’s research interests are centered on brain plasticity, cognition, racial disparities in brain health, and aging in humans. Specifically, her research focuses on modulators of brain health across the adult lifespan, with a primary focus on aerobic exercise and cardio-respiratory fitness, racialized stress, and aging, and their impact on the medial temporal hippocampal system. She uses functional and structural MRI, behavioral and exercise physiology methods, surveys and structured interviews, and biomarker assays.
