David Kleinfeld from the University of California’s Division of Biological Science, Section of Neurobiology, and a Distinguished Professor of Physics, will lead a discussion on “How blood flows throughout cortex”. This lunch seminar will be held at at the Boston University Photonics Center, 8 Saint Mary’s Street, Room 906, Boston, MA 02215. Registration will start at noon and the talk will begin at 12:20 pm. David will review the angioarchitecture of rodent cortex and the consequences of this architecture on how the brain controls its own blood flow, and responds to vascular occlusions (ministrokes), what measurements of blood flow and/or oxygenation can and cannot tell us about the activity of the underlying neurons under wakefulness and sleep, and the role of technological advances in addressing longstanding issues and creating new opportunities for inquiry.

Registration is required to ensure a lunch will be ordered for you.
