Join us for a combined Biology, Neurophotonics Center, and NSF NRT UtB: Neurophotonics Fall Seminar event!

On Monday, September 10, 2018, Lin Tian from the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine at the School of Medicine at University of California, Davis, will lead a discussion on “Watching the Brain in Action: Creating Tools for Functional Analysis of Neural Circuitry.”

Lin will discuss recent progress in developing and applying a new suite of genetically encoded indicators to enable in-vivo measurement of afferent activity of any length with axon-specific calcium imaging in previously inaccessible deep brain area and ultrafast neuronal imaging of dopamine dynamics in vivo. She will also discuss the design, characterization and applications of these genetically encoded indicators. Validation of the sensor design platform, which could also be applied to developing sensors for a broad range of neuromodulators, including norepinephrine, serotonin, melatonin, and opioid neuropeptides, will also be presented.

Registration is required to ensure a lunch will be ordered for you.
