Gregory Wirak (Gabel lab) received his B.S. in Physiology & Neurobiology and Molecular & Cellular Biology with honors from the University of Connecticut. Following three years engaged in postgraduate research surrounding neurodegeneration at Yale University, he subsequently joined BU’s Graduate Program for Neuroscience in 2016. Employing neurophotonic techniques such as calcium imaging, optogenetics, and femtosecond laser microsurgery, his current research focuses on the C. elegans nervous system. He aims to use neurophotonics and this simple model organism to expand his understanding of the molecular and cellular processes underlying nervous system function, dysfunction, and regeneration. Greg expects to graduate in 2022.
