Naomi Shvedov (Scott Lab) graduated from Rutgers University with a B.S in Cell Biology and Neuroscience Honors. At Rutgers, she became fascinated with neurophotonics in the Margolis Lab while using two-photon microscopy in awake, behaving mice to study calcium activities of distinct cell populations in the striatum. Now, at Boston University’s Graduate Program for Neuroscience, Naomi is working in Dr. Ben Scott’s lab studying adult neurogenesis in-vivo in the zebra finch song system, to better understand how endogenously generated neuroblasts navigate through adult brain tissue and incorporate into pre-established, behaviorally-relevant circuitry. She is utilizing multiphoton time-lapse microscopy and state-of-the-art image analysis tools to observe the dynamic, 4-dimensional migration of adult-born neurons in unanesthetized zebra finch birds. She expects to graduate in 2025.
