Natalie Gilmore (Aphasia Research Laboratory) is a doctoral candidate working with Dr. Swathi Kiran in Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at Sargent College. She achicved her BA in communication sciences & disorders from the University of Pittsburgh and an MS in medical speech-language pathology from the University of Washington. Before returning for her doctorate in 2015, Natalie worked as an outpatient speech-language pathologist specializing in neurorehabilitation. Natalie is currently starting the second year of her two-year predoctoral training grant (NIH/NIDCD F31), co-sponsored by Dr. Kiran and Dr. David Boas, in which she is examining the behavioral and neural effects of an intensive, academically-focused cognitive rehabilitation program for young adults with acquired brain injury (ABI) interested in college. This project titled “Behavioral and Neural Effects of Intensive Cognitive-Communication Rehabilitation in Young College-Bound Adults with Acquired Brain Injury” will serve as her dissertation and she expects to graduate upon completion of the grant’s aims by Summer 2021.
