Alexandria (Alex) Yen
Postdoctoral Associate
As a continuing-gen student, I took my knowledge of the hidden curriculum for granted during both my college and graduate experience. I feel strongly that having such privilege and insider knowledge means that you need to share what you know and open spaces for everyone, especially those who may not see or have doubts that they absolutely belong in academic institutions. It is my job in an office supporting Professional Development & Postdoctoral Affairs to make sure all first-gen students feel that they can come to PDPA, and know they are welcome. We have resources and opportunities to give you! And we want to be there for you without making you feel that you must always be the one to reach out for help.
