Aliyah Phipps

Residence Hall Director

In my capacity as a first-generation student and professional, I have taken on the role of a T1 Advocate with the intention of paying forward the invaluable support I received while navigating my undergraduate journey. While college presents challenges for all students, the experience for first-gen students can be uniquely complex, often involving additional hurdles compared to peers with familial support and familiarity with college processes and systems.

My decision to become a T1 Advocate is rooted in the profound impact of the support I received from dedicated staff during my academic journey. Recognizing the transformative role these connections played in my own success, I am driven to establish similar bonds with today’s students, ensuring that they too have access to the guidance and support necessary for their academic and personal growth. I firmly believe that fostering these connections is essential in creating a more inclusive and supportive educational environment for all.
