I want to be a resource for other first gens who may not know the general questions to ask or resources to seek out on their educational and professional journeys. I can also talk about studying, living, and working abroad, careers in higher education, careers in early education, and careers in K-12 education.

  • Personal Facts/ Hobbies/ Interests: I was a cellist and pianist in high school and very involved in community service while balancing working 20/hours a week. My high school had fewer resources than those that many of my college classmates graduated from.At the University of Chicago, I was very involved with Resources for Sexual Violence Prevention on campus, and in my free time volunteered in local emergency rooms as an advocate for survivors of sexual assault with a community non-profit. I was also very involved in residence life on campus.During college, I studied abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico and Paris, France. I also volunteered teaching with Global Learning in Nicaragua.

    After completing my undergraduate degree, I lived in Germany for almost eight years. I taught English freelance there until I completed an MA and then started working at a college administrating their International Business Studies program.

    When I moved back to the USA, I taught middle school ELA in an after school program in Chicago before becoming a preschool teacher in public school.

    I love gardening, figure skating, and the arts,
    As an adult, I learned Georgian, Turkish, and Ukrainian folk dancing, as well as the sport of squash.
    I am interested in social justice and environmental sustainability.
