Jessica Bozek
Master Lecturer
I want to help first-gen students feel more comfortable asking for help than I did when I was a first-gen student at BU. I understand that we are often used to juggling work and class, to silently observing the sometimes baffling customs of higher ed, and to getting things done on our own. It took me 3 years to visit my professors’ office hours to ask for a paper extension–I thought that having to ask meant I didn’t belong. Really it meant that I had too much on my plate and wanted to give myself the best shot at doing well on an assignment I cared about.
I am here as an instructor, a sounding board, and a bridge to the resources BU has to offer.
