Sheila Farrell

Graduate Admissions Advisor

“As a first-generation undergraduate and graduate student, I relied on my own determination to reach my goals – but it was a siloed space. I did not have a support system to help me identify the hidden curriculum, feelings of imposter syndrome, sources of financial aid. I am delighted to see the Newbury Center here at BU as a resource for first-gen students and I am excited to share experiences and resources with other first-gen students. Diversity benefits all, and we, first-gen students, are a big part of what makes BU special – our stories, accomplishments and perspectives!”
