Peer Mentoring Panel Connects Student Community
Our Peer Mentoring Panels are held before each semester and are designed to connect our growing student body. In the panels, new students are encouraged to ask returning students about their experiences in online education. They receive excellent tips and suggestions on how to succeed in their classes and how to engage with their instructors, peers, and academic community. Our panelists come from a wide variety of backgrounds and degree programs, offering our new students valuable insight into what it takes to achieve.

Boston University Honored by USDLA for Best Practices in Distance Learning
On May 11, 2016, the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) presented Boston University with a 21st Century Award for Best Practices in Distance Learning. Founded as a nonprofit association in 1987, the USDLA is the nation’s leading distance learning organization. The USDLA International Distance Learning Awards are presented annually during the National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, to “acknowledge major accomplishments in distance learning and to highlight those distance learning instructors, programs, and professionals who have achieved and demonstrated extraordinary results through the use of online, videoconferencing, satellite and blended learning delivery technologies.”
U.S. News Ranks MET Online Programs among Best for Vets
U.S. News & World Report has named several Metropolitan College online graduate programs among the top choices for military veterans and active service members. BU’s top performers and their category rankings: Master of Criminal Justice (#2), Master of Science in Computer Information Systems (#3), and the master’s degree programs in management (#7).

Metropolitan College Wins USDLA Best Practices Award
In conjunction with its 2015 National Conference in St. Louis, Missouri, the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) presented Boston University with the Platinum Best Practices Award for Distance Learning Programming. The award recognized the Metropolitan College Department of Computer Science online course Quantitative Methods for Information Systems. Developed by Associate Professor and Chair of Computer Science Anatoly Temkin and Distance Education Assistant Director of Instructional Design Daniel Hillman, the course is part of MET’s online Master of Science in Computer Information Systems, which ranked #3 among the nation’s Best Online Graduate Computer Information Technology Programs by U.S. News & World Report this year.
