As a Boston University student taking courses online with BU Virtual, it is important that your setup meets the necessary technical requirements to complete your coursework. You need to have access to these technologies for the duration of your course. Any additional information on technical requirements will be found in your course syllabus.

• Courses with proctored exams (Examity): Desktop or laptop computer with Google Chrome web browser or Microsoft Edge web browser
• Two-factor authentication service for BU applications (Duo Security): optional Duo Mobile download for iOS or Duo Mobile download for Android

Recommended Hardware

• Desktop or laptop computer recommended for best experience, some functionality including proctored exams are not compatible with phones or tablets
• Headset with built-in microphone for high quality audio during live classroom sessions
• Webcam (required for proctored exams)
• Working computer speakers (required for proctored exams)
