Pardee Fellow Julius Gatune Joins ACET as Policy Advisor

GatunePardee Center’s Post-doctoral Fellow, Dr. Julius Gatune Kariuki, has joined the Africa Centre for Economic Transformation (ACET), a Pan-Africa think tank based in Accra, Ghana,as a Policy Advisor. In this position, Dr. Gatune will provide advice to Africa governments on how to transform their economies. He will also be involved in tracking Africa’s long-term trends and providing long-term policy advice.

The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) was established in 2007 to assist African governments accelerate economic growth and transformation by providing high-quality, integrated package of services involving on-demand policy advisory services, research, and institution building. With the support of its funders including the Rockefeller Foundation, thegovernment of Ghana, Hewlett Foundation, DFID, the government of the Netherlands, and the World Bank, ACET began operations in 2008 and is establishing itself as a center of excellence in the delivery of innovative and client-focused policy advice to selected African governments by tapping on a vast network of outstanding African and non-African experts, while maintaining a core staff in its headquarters in Accra, Ghana. ACET’s start-up phase has involved embarking on advisory engagements in Ghana, Liberia, Rwanda and Sierra Leone and developing the intellectual framework for its research work which will involve producing the flagship publication, the African Economic Transformation Report.
