Prof. Adil Najam Appointed to MIT Visiting Committee

Prof. Adil Najam, the Director of the Frederick S. Pardee Center for the Study of the Longer-Range Future and a Boston University Professor of International Relations and of Geography and Environment, has been appointed to the Visiting Committee of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Corporation. Prof. Najam will serve for a two-year term on the Visiting Committee for the MIT Department of Urban Studies and Planning.

The MIT Corporation serves as the Board of Trustees and its responsibility is to “see that the Institute adheres to the purposes for which it was chartered and that its integrity and financial resources are preserved for future generations as well as for current purposes.” Most of the work of the MIT Corporation is conducted through its various committees. The system of Visiting Committees of the MIT Corporation was established in 1875 and “operate as advisory groups to the Corporation and the administration, offering appraisal, advice, and insight on each academic program and on other major activities at the Institute.”

Prof. Najam is a graduate of MIT and will serve on the Visiting Committee for the Department of Urban Studies and Planning as a nominee of the Association of Alumni and Alumnae of MIT.
