Henrik Selin Presents at Society of Toxicology Annual Meeting

selinpicture_smallPardee Faculty Fellow Prof. Henrik Selin presented at the 50th Annual Meeting of the Society of Toxicology in Washington DC. There were over 7,500 registered participants for the meeting, held from March 6 to March 10, 2011.

Prof. Selin’s presentation was titled “The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants” and was part of the session “Coordinating Global Chemical Safety: The Big Four”.

In his presentation, Prof. Selin talked about the history and development of the Stockholm Convention. He also talked about how toxicologists and other natural scientists could engage more with international policy processes and treaties. Prof. Selin’s presentation drew from his book, Global Governance of Hazardous Chemicals: Challenges of Multilevel Management (2010) andhis 2009 Pardee Paper (No. 5) on Managing Hazardous Chemicals: Longer-Range Challenges.
